Now that you’re aware of cabling installation, what actual different types of cables are there? Well, these are the most common network types:
1. Cat5e cable
2. Cat6 cable
3. Fiber optic cable
Cat5e cable is a twisted pair cable used for computer networks. This type of cable provides up to 100MHz and is suited for the majority of Ethernet connections.
The Cat6 cable, on the other hand, is also a twisted pair cable for ethernet and other networks, however, it is backward compatible with the cat5e. This allows for more precise specifications to be met and is used for more complex network setups.
The final cable we will discuss is the Fiber optic cable, the one which you’re most likely familiar with. The Fiber optic cable consists of strands of glass fibers which are used for super-fast, high-performance and long-distance networking and telecommunications. These cables are the fastest in the business and the standard network cable used in the majority of third world countries.
Sometimes cable wires are untidy. How to hide cabling?
There are many different ways to hide various network cables you have. Whether you have extra-long cable for network setup, or whether it’s just in your home, there are plenty of options available.
First, you can use cable ties to tie any loose cable together – hiding any untidy cables and keeping the cable looking neat, not to mention removing any trip hazards. Second, we recommend either building the cable into a cabinet or storage unit (especially if this a network) or alternatively running the cable to its full length around the back of the room (out of site and out of trip hazard range, you’ll thank us later!).
